Justice and
Human Rights

The SSHJM Inclusive Development Programme is dedicated to integrating human rights into its initiatives, with a focus on social justice. The program primarily emphasizes rights related to core themes such as disability rights, access to high-quality inclusive education, healthcare, and sustainable livelihoods for all.

Given its extensive presence in the field, the SSHJM IDP Zambia is adept at understanding and respecting rights from a local perspective. The program is committed to ensuring that no one is marginalized, and it places great importance on rights, equality, and non-discrimination.

About this theme

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) proclaims that every individual is born free and equal in dignity and rights (Article 1). This emphasizes the universal nature of human rights, which are inherent to all people, regardless of their background or location. Despite this principle, human rights violations persist in various parts of the world, particularly among individuals who lack the means to protect their fundamental rights and freedoms. These ongoing injustices have served as a catalyst for initiatives such as the missionary development movement and SSHJM IDP Zambia.

Our work & the Global Goals

SSHJM IDP's work in Human Rights is supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals No 10: Reduced Inequalities and No. 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
